Welcome to the MISTER Center!

MISTER:  Men's Information Services:  Testing*Empowerment*Resources

is a drop-in center for men located in Midtown Atlanta, and is one of several programs offered at Positive Impact Health Centers. While the majority of services are focused on the needs of gay and bisexual men due to the nature of funding that supports MISTER and the mission of the MISTER program, women and straight men may also access many of the services offered at MISTER, including access to no-cost HIV testing, fee-for-service STI screenings, information on local resources, and linkage to HIV medical care for HIV-positive persons.

A variety of FREE programs and services are offered. Check out the links on this page for more information about HIV testing, STI screening, CLEAR counseling and other MISTER services..

The MISTER Center is one of the most popular spots for getting a no-cost rapid HIV test in metro Atlanta, conducting over 5000 HIV tests annually! Have you had your test lately? If you are sexually active the CDC recommends testing every 6 to 12 months; and if you are a gay or bisexual man sexually active with more than one sex partner testing every 3 months is recommended.

Take control of your life -- take the test!

Monday - Thursday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Friday 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Saturday 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

NOTE: All testing must be started 30 minutes prior to closing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need an appointment for an HIV test?
A: No, you do not need to schedule an appointment for an HIV test at MISTER. Appointments are only needed for the one-on-one CLEAR counseling sessions and for treatment of a sexually transmitted infection.

Q: How much does HIV testing cost?
A: There is NO COST to you associated with receiving an HIV test, but the HIV testing service you will receive has an estimated cost value of $107.25.

Q: Can I get screened for syphilis, gonorrhea and Chlamydia?
A: Screenings are currently available for a nominal fee to cover the administrative and medical costs associated with screening. In some cases, this fee may be deferred depending on circumstances. This can only be determined by the counselor at the time of your HIV testing visit.

Q: Can women and straight men access any services at MISTER?
A: YES! While the majority of clients tested at the MISTER Center are gay and bisexual men, anyone over the age of 16, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity or sexual orientation, can get a no-cost HIV test at MISTER and purchase any of our fee-for-service STI screens.

Q: How often can I get a free HIV test at MISTER?
A: If you are sexually active, it is recommended you get tested every 3 to 6 months for HIV. In some cases, such as clearing a "window period," getting tested once a month may be acceptable, but no one can test more frequently than once every 30 days at MISTER. Your test counselor will inform you of when you need to return, and can even set you up with our free texting and email reminder service should you choose that option.

Q: Do you have more questions?
A: Contact us! Any of our MISTER Center staff will be more than happy to answer your questions. 678-365-4300

CLEAR Coaching and
Risk Management

Have you ever wanted to talk with someone frankly about sex without being judged or criticized for the sexual choices you make? Do you feel that low self-esteem or concerns about your sexual orientation are holding you back? MISTER's CLEAR coaching and risk management services fill that need for all gay and bisexual men seeking a safe, confidential place to talk with one of our "sexpert" coaches to help you achieve a healthier, hotter sex life while being empowered to take control of your life.

Health & Wellness Counseling

The Health & Wellness Counselors at MISTER are ready to support and assist HIV-positive men and women through the often confusing HIV medical care system. The counselors can direct you to appropriate medical care providers, assist you with completing all paperwork and obtaining all documentation prior to your medical visit, can link you to additional support services such as mental health counseling support and substance abuse treatment, and support you over the course of your first year of HIV care to help you understand your labs, maintain your prescribed medication regimen, and keep scheduled medical visits. The Counselors also work with HIV-negative gay and bisexual men who want to better understand PrEP and who wish to begin using PrEP as a prevention tool to reduce HIV exposure risk as part of an HIV prevention strategy.
